Chandigarh Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Waris Punjab De rally scheduled for Wednesday. The rally will begin at Gurdwara Amb Sahib and proceed towards the Punjab Governor's House.
Commuters travelling between Chandigarh and Mohali, as well as those heading towards ISBT-43, have been asked to avoid certain routes. Special traffic arrangements will be in place from 9.30 am.
Traffic restrictions and diversions will be enforced on the stretch between the UT-Mohali border, behind Burail Jail, and Sector 50/51 Chowk. Restrictions will also apply from Sector 50/51 Chowk towards Sector 44/45-50/51 Chowk, also known as Gaushala Chowk, along Sarovar Path. The Sector 44/45 Light Point will also be affected.
Traffic movement will also be regulated between Sector 43/44/51/52 Chowk, near ISBT Chowk, and Sector 44/45-50/51 Chowk (Gaushala Chowk). Further restrictions will be imposed towards Sector 45-46/49/50 Chowk along Vikas Marg. The Sector 43/44 and Sector 45/46 Light Points will also see diversions.
Inter-State bus operators have been told to take alternate routes while travelling to ISBT Sector 43 in Chandigarh. The move is aimed at keeping traffic moving smoothly and reducing congestion in the affected areas.
The traffic police have urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, take alternate routes and follow the latest traffic updates shared on the Chandigarh Traffic Police's social media platforms, including X, Facebook and Instagram, under the handle @trafficchd.
