Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha convened a high-level security meeting at his residence in Agartala on Friday to address the security concerns along the India-Bangladesh border. The meeting, which lasted for over an hour, focused on intensifying surveillance and reinforcing security measures across the international boundary.
Senior officials from the Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles, and other security agencies, including intelligence officers, attended the strategic discussion. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of heightened vigilance to prevent cross-border crimes and maintain law and order in the border areas.
Sources revealed that authorities are planning to implement more robust monitoring systems and joint operations in sensitive areas in the coming days.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also convened a high-level meeting in the national capital on Friday to review the prevailing border situation and assess security arrangements at airports across the country.
The one-hour meeting, which began at 12:30 pm at the Home Minister’s residence, was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Daljit Chawdhary, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Director General RS Bhatti, and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) Director General Rajesh Nirwan.
The meeting primarily focused on reviewing the current border situation and evaluating the security arrangements at airports nationwide. This discussion follows heightened vigilance along sensitive zones and an ongoing effort to strengthen national security infrastructure.
Earlier, on Thursday night, the Home Minister had also engaged in talks with the Director Generals of all border-guarding forces, reviewing the security situation along India’s borders.
The discussions aimed at assessing the preparedness and operational readiness of security forces, especially in light of recent developments. These include a major missile and drone attack launched by Pakistan on Thursday night, which targeted India’s Jammu region and Rajasthan, including areas like Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, and Jaisalmer.
The Home Minister’s fresh meeting with the Director Generals of BSF, CISF, and BCAS occurred hours after the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a significant infiltration attempt along the India-Pakistan border. In a major security operation in the Samba Sector of the Jammu Frontier on Friday morning, BSF personnel neutralised seven terrorists.
