In a renewed push to resolve their long-pending inter-state border dispute, Tripura and Mizoram are set to hold a high-level meeting in Agartala during the first week of August 2026.
According to official sources, senior administrative and police officials from both states will participate in the discussions, which aim to find a permanent and amicable solution to the border issue that has remained unresolved for years.
The meeting is being organised at the initiative of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, who has been advocating greater coordination between the two neighbouring states to address the longstanding dispute.
The Tripura delegation is expected to include the Home Secretary, Revenue Secretary, District Magistrate of North Tripura district, the concerned Superintendent of Police, along with other senior officials. Mizoram, on the other hand, will be represented by its Home Secretary and other senior administrative officers.
The upcoming talks follow a positive exchange between Saha and his Mizoram counterpart during a recent North Eastern Council (NEC) meeting in Shillong. During the interaction, both leaders emphasised the need for a coordinated and dialogue-driven approach to resolving the border issue.
Officials indicated that the Agartala meeting will focus on key aspects such as border demarcation, administrative coordination, law and order, and challenges faced by residents living in border areas. Measures to strengthen coordination between local administrations and ensure smoother governance in these regions are also expected to be discussed.
