A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in the Jopher village area of Ramnagar in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district during a cordon and search operation.
Security personnel, including teams from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other supporting units, came into contact with militants during the operation, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. According to police officials, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area, and intermittent firing was ongoing when last reports were received.
The Udhampur Police confirmed the operation on social media, stating that the encounter took place under the jurisdiction of Ramnagar police station, and efforts were continuing to neutralise the threat.

Simultaneously, another encounter was reported in the Chattru forest area of Kishtwar district, also in the Jammu region. According to official sources, an exchange of fire was taking place between militants and security forces in the dense and rugged terrain.
A senior police officer stated that the operation was underway in a particularly difficult forested area, prompting the deployment of additional reinforcements to the location.
Both operations are ongoing, and further details are awaited as security forces continue their efforts to flush out the militants from these regions.
