Two DSPs of the Andhra Pradesh police died in a car accident on Saturday near Hyderabad. The police officers were on the way from Vijayawada to Hyderabad on duty when the accident occurred. Their car rammed into a divider attempting to avoid collision with a vehicle in front which braked suddenly at Choutuppal, some 50 kms from Hyderabad.
Following the collision with the road divider, the vehicle tumbled on the opposite side of the road and was hit by a speeding vehicle, police added.
The two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) who are attached to the Intelligence Security Wing of Andhra Pradesh police lost their lives on the spot, an Additional Superintendent of Police and the driver of the vehicle got hurt.
The victims were being treated at a private hospital, and their condition was reported to be out of danger. A police official told the journalists that the officials had been travelling in another car initially, which stopped working. They then booked a replacement car from Hyderabad.
The two DSPs — Santha Rao and Chakradhar Rao — were killed on the spot, he added. Santha Rao was on duty with respect to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's departure from Hyderabad airport (to Singapore), he added.
