In two tragic incidents, two students of Ashoka University in Sonipat were found dead under separate circumstances on Friday night, police confirmed on Sunday.
According to police reports, a 21-year-old student from Bengaluru is suspected to have died after jumping from an upper floor of the university’s hostel building.
Station House Officer (SHO) Sub-Inspector Kuldeep, speaking over the phone, stated that initial findings point to suicide, but a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and speaking with students and university staff for further details.
In a separate incident, another student, hailing from Telangana, was found lying unconscious near the university's main gate. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. Preliminary reports suggest that the student may have suffered a cardiac arrest, but an autopsy will confirm the exact cause of death.
Following both incidents, police moved the bodies to the civil hospital for postmortem examinations. The reports are awaited, and authorities will proceed accordingly based on the findings.
The university administration has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incidents. Meanwhile, students and faculty members have expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate events, and counseling services have been made available for students coping with the loss of their peers.
Further investigations are underway to establish the full details behind these tragic deaths.
