With the arrest of 13 individuals, the Punjab Police on Saturday busted two significant ISI-backed Khalistani terror modules being operated from oversees, officials said. The authorities recovered two rocket-propelled grenades, two hand grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), RDX, and other weapons during the operation.
According to Director-General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the first terror module was led by Satnam Singh, alias Satta, based in France, while the second was run by Jaswinder, alias Mannu Agwan, who resides in Greece.
Both modules were being directed by the banned terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) with support from Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
DGP Yadav described the breakthrough as a significant setback to transnational terror networks attempting to disrupt peace and stability in Punjab. He shared details of the operation on a social media platform.
Providing further details, DGP Yadav said the police recovered a cache of arms and explosives, including two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) with a launcher, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing 2.5 kg each, two hand grenades with detonators, 2 kg of RDX equipped with a remote control, five pistols (Beretta and Glock), six magazines, 44 live cartridges, a wireless communication set, and three vehicles.
The arrested have been identified as Jatinder alias Honey, Jagjit alias Jagga, both residents of Kapurthala, Harpreet and Jagroop, both from Hoshiarpur, said the DGP, adding their terror module was operated Satta. A case has been registered against them under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act at Amritsar.
Regarding the second module, the DGP said nine operatives have been arrested. A separate case under the UAPA and Explosives Act has been filed in Batala.
