Two employees lost their lives after a major fire erupted at an Amazon warehouse in Haldwani city of Uttarakhand, police said on Saturday.
Haldwani Superintendent of Police (City) Manoj Katyal said the bodies of two workers were recovered from inside the warehouse after the fire was brought under control. The deceased were identified as Narendra Prasad, 35, a resident of Bagjala in Haldwani, and Amit Arya, 25, who lived on Rampur Road. The warehouse is located opposite Sheetal Hotel on Rampur Road.
Katyal said police, fire brigade personnel and administrative officials rushed to the spot after receiving information about the blaze late on Friday night.
According to officials, the fire spread quickly through the warehouse, making firefighting operations difficult. The flames were eventually brought under control after sustained efforts by emergency teams.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, while the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Officials said an investigation has been launched and further inquiries are underway.
