Dr Vinay Kumar Patel, Controller of Examinations at Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), has lodged a complaint alleging that an assistant professor shared questions matching those in a university examination paper with students through WhatsApp and an internal portal before the exam.
The accused, identified as Ashish Kumar Gupta, Assistant Professor at Shivalik College of Engineering, Dehradun, was arrested following an internal inquiry into the matter.
An FIR (Case No. 144/26) was registered at Premnagar Police Station under Sections 316, 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said electronic devices recovered from the accused are being examined as part of the investigation. Further probe is underway to ascertain whether any other persons were involved in the alleged examination paper leak.
Necessary legal action will be taken against all those found involved in the case, police said.
