The historic 186-year-old President's House on Rajpur Road in Dehradun will open to visitors starting in April 2025.
Following instructions from President Draupadi Murmu, officials from the President's Secretariat visited Dehradun on Saturday and met with state government representatives to discuss the necessary preparations for opening the site to the public.
The 21-acre complex is currently used by the President's Bodyguard (PBG). In preparation for public visits, a meeting was held with senior Uttarakhand government officials, led by Additional Secretary Dr. Rakesh Gupta. It was decided that the main building of the complex would be accessible to visitors.
People will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the 251-year-old PBG regiment and its 186-year-old stables, as well as explore the President's residence. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the beautiful gardens and cafeteria located within the complex.
Before the opening, plans for providing electricity, water, and parking facilities for visitors are underway. The meeting was attended by PBG CO Colonel Amit Berwal, OSD Swati Shahi, Uttarakhand Government Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, and other officials, including Dehradun DM Savin Bansal.
This move follows similar initiatives where the President's Nilayam in Hyderabad and the residence in Mashobra were also opened to the public.
