Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would establish the foundation for a society where there is no discrimination based on religion, gender, caste, or community.

He emphasised that the UCC is part of the government's commitment to create a unified India.

While unfurling the national flag at the state BJP office for the 76th Republic Day celebrations, Dhami highlighted that the UCC would be fully implemented in Uttarakhand on Monday, fulfilling a promise made during the 2022 assembly elections.

He explained, "We made a commitment to the people during the election, and now, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we are fulfilling it. The UCC is now an official act, and it will be implemented tomorrow."

Dhami also stressed that the UCC aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of a harmonious India, free of discrimination. He added, “Just as many great rivers of India start in Uttarakhand, the ‘Gangotri of UCC’ will begin here and spread across the country.”

Dhami also took a moment to thank the people for their continued trust in the vision of Prime Minister Modi for the state, mentioning that Uttarakhand will host the National Games, which the Prime Minister will inaugurate on January 28.
