The search operation in Udhampur has entered day 3, as security forces are yet to establish contact with the three remaining terrorists currently hiding in the Udhampur forest belt in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. The cordon and search operation is being conducted by the Joint team of security forces.
Meanwhile, during the earlier confrontation, security forces managed to kill top Jaish Commander Haider, codenamed Moulvi, in the Basantgarh area while three of his associates are still hiding in the forest.
The forces resumed the joint search operation early this morning, with a widened radius and backing of drones and sniffer dogs, they said.
Meanwhile, more reinforcements have been rushed to strengthen the spot to kill the remaining members of this small group.

Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti said the hiding terrorists are within the cordoned area. He said one of the four has been killed, while three are still in the area.
This particular group, according to security forces, had been tracked for more than a year. Two of the members of this group were killed in September last year.
On Thursday, the four terrorists were found hiding near Karoor Nallah in the Bihali high-altitude belt and were engaged by the joint search party led by the Army’s Para Commandos, resulting in an encounter.
Meanwhile, on April 25, Ali Sheikh of the Army’s 6 Para was killed in an encounter in the same Basantgarh area.
Before that, on April 9, militants and security forces had an engagement in a fierce confrontation in the Jopher-Marta belt of Basantgarh in Udhampur district.
The terrorists, on April 28, 2024, shot dead village defence guard Mohammad Sharief during a brief exchange as he tried to confront the terrorists.
