Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey has launched a sharp attack on the Congress party's planned 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar. He asserted that the protest march would soon turn into the party's "shavyatra" (funeral procession).
Choubey made the comments in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district, where he was attending the 'shraddh' ceremony for tribal leader Shibu Soren. Choubey claimed that "Congress’ days are over" and that the proposed yatra would "fizzle out."
The 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' is set to begin on August 17. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders in Bihar will lead the march across the state. The yatra is a protest against the revision of electoral rolls. It also aims to turn the "battle against vote chori" into a mass movement.

Exuding confidence over NDA’s victory in Bihar, Choubey said, "The NDA will form its government in Bihar with full strength. We will win the election with a two-third majority under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar." The elections for Bihar’s 243 assembly seats are expected to take place in October–November.
