The Gau Seva Commission of Uttar Pradesh has partnered with Patanjali Yogpeeth with the intention to boost the rural economy of the state. The initiative, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to promote cow protection, natural farming, and biogas expansion.
The partnership was formed after discussions in Haridwar between Gau Seva Commission Chairman Shyam Bihari Gupta and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev. According to an official statement, Patanjali Yogpeeth will provide full technical support. Chief Minister Adityanath believes that the "village cow is the foundation of the village’s progress."
Under this agreement, cow shelters will be transformed into centres for rural industry. They will produce Panchgavya products and biogas. Baba Ramdev is expected to visit Uttar Pradesh soon to meet with Chief Minister Adityanath and finalise the plan.

According to Dr Anurag Srivastava of the Gau Seva Commission, two to ten cow shelters in each of the 75 districts will become large model centres. They will feature open sheds, fencing, and security for the cows.
The initiative is also expected to create rural jobs. Villagers will be involved in collecting cow urine and selling products. They will earn a 50 per cent commission. Patanjali Yogpeeth will provide training, quality control, and certification.
Advanced technologies will also be introduced. These include geo-fencing, cow tagging, and fodder inventory tracking. Natural inputs like neem, cow urine, and vermicompost will be supplied to villages. This will help farmers reduce costs and improve soil fertility. It will also strengthen environmental sustainability.
