Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the Uttarakhand government would establish five new yoga hubs by 2030.

Uttarakhand has become the first state in India to implement a dedicated yoga policy. The state cabinet on Saturday approved this decision aimed at establishing Uttarakhand as a global hub of yoga and wellness.

Under the yoga policy, a subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh is being provided for developing yoga and meditation centres in the state. A provision of grants up to Rs 10 lakh has also been made to promote research in yoga, meditation and naturopathy.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state government would establish five new yoga hubs by 2030 and by March 2026, yoga services would be available in all AYUSH health and wellness centres across the state. The Chief Minister also planted an apple tree in the Vidhan Sabha premises under the “Ek Vriksha Yoga ke Naam” program.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government would soon establish Spiritual Economic Zones in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions to promote ayurveda, naturopathy, yoga and spiritual tourism in the state. He said two new towns would be established in the hilly areas of the state as centres of yoga, ayurveda and spirituality.

Dhami said the state government was committed to solving the problem of unemployment and migration under the guidance of the Prime Minister. Several important schemes are also being worked out to promote local economy and tourism in the state, he said.
