An artistic expression named 'Wall of Peace' in Kashmir's Baramulla district

A place which is struggling to see restoration normalcy and peace has seen a novel initiative towards this goal, this time in art form.  It is an expression from a group of artists on the walls, an aspiration that has been given vent in the shape of a muralin Kashmir's Baramulla district.

In what can be seen as  a vibrant step toward cultural revival and public engagement, the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation has launched the “Wall of Peace” initiative to beautify the scenic mountain town of Baramulla through the transformative power of art.

This beautification project serves as a living canvas of hope, identity, and unity. Through striking and self-explanatory murals, the initiative captures the essence of Kashmiriyat — reflecting the breathtaking landscapes, rich traditions, and the indomitable spirit of the valley. It is captivation yet loaded with a powerful message, a yearning of people after facing decades of violence and destruction which impacted their lives badly.

Titled “The Wall of Peace,” the mural is more than just a visual delight — it stands as a powerful symbol of resilience, cultural pride, and community harmony. Every brushstroke tells a story: of the people, their heritage, and the shared bonds that unite them

“When I paint a wall, I’m not just adding colour — I’m restoring identity, reviving stories, and reminding people of the strength that lives within their roots. The Wall of Peace in Baramulla is my tribute to Kashmir’s soul — its resilience, its culture, and its undying hope,”

This initiative is a quiet yet powerful reminder that peace rooted in culture and community has the power to transform not only public spaces, but also the very spirit of the people. It reinforces the idea that art is not merely a form of expression — it is a bridge to unity, healing, and dialogue.Rouble Nagi also extended her heartfelt thanks to the Indian Army for their invaluable support in making this initiative possible.

The people of Baramulla have warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing joy and pride in seeing their town adorned with meaningful and vibrant wall art that celebrates their identity and heritage.
