Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that the state's winter pilgrimage initiative will now be a year-round event.
In a post on X, CM Dhami shared the news, stating, "Under the guidance of Prime Minister @narendramodi ji, our double engine government has started the winter pilgrimage. Now, the pilgrimage in Uttarakhand will take place for 12 months instead of just 6 months."
This change is part of a larger effort to boost tourism in the state and promote spiritual travel year-round. The winter pilgrimage, which was once limited to the colder months, will now allow devotees to visit the Char Dham temples throughout the year.
"The winter pilgrimage offers devotees a spiritual experience, and the number of tourists is also increasing at various tourist destinations in the state due to the winter season," Dhami said.
He also emphasised that this initiative would benefit both religious tourism and the local economy by creating new job opportunities.
"Through this visionary initiative of the Prime Minister, travel in the state will continue year-round, and local people will also gain new employment opportunities," he added.

In addition to this, CM Dhami launched several digital projects developed by the Department of Information Technology and NIC at the Secretariat. These initiatives aim to make public services more efficient, faster, and inclusive in the digital age, while also addressing challenges like cybersecurity.
The Chief Minister highlighted that websites of all government departments, built in the S3WaaS framework, will improve cybersecurity and provide easy access to services on a single platform.
He also mentioned that the state has been designated as an Authentication User Agency (AUA) and Key User Agency (KUA) by UIDAI, allowing services related to Aadhaar authentication and E-KYC to be provided through various state-developed portals.
