A woman Maoist from Jharkhand, disguised as domestic help in Delhi-NCR, was arrested by Delhi Police on March 4. The 23-year-old woman Maoist named Champa Hemrom alias Renuka was staying in Delhi for the past 4-5 years disguised as domestic help.
Champa, a resident of Kudaburu village in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand and was working as a house cleaner in Maharana Pratap Enclave, Pitampura. After several months of surveillance, the police have succeeded in arresting her.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Delhi, Vikram Singh said that after receiving information about the presence of Maoists in NCR, the female Maoist was arrested after conducting a raid.
Investigation revealed that she came to Delhi in 2020 and was working as a domestic help in Noida and Delhi through a fake Aadhar card.
Cases are registered against the arrested female Maoist under several serious sections. A non-bailable warrant was issued against her by a Jharkhand court on 26 March 2023.
According to the police, she was involved in an encounter with Jharkhand Police in Kolhan in 2018. In 2019, she had attacked the police with a Maoist squad in Podahat and in 2020 in Sonua in West Singhbhum district.

During interrogation, the Maoist confessed that she had taken training in handling weapons for 5 years. She knows how to use weapons like 303 rifle, SLR, INSAS rifle and hand grenades.
Police suspect that she was in contact with other people involved in Naxal activities in Delhi. Champa Hemrom can soon be brought to Chaibasa in Jharkhand. She will be further interrogated there, which can provide other important information, said police.
