Investigating agencies have arrested Afsana, an anganwadi worker who rented a room at Hidayat Colony, Nuh, to Dr Umar Nabi of Al-Falah University, who has been identified as a terrorist. Afsana had been missing since the Delhi bombing. Her family, who is also being questioned, said the police took her into custody.

As per sources, Afsana lives in Golpuri village and is the mother of a young daughter. She manages her father’s house and had rented a room to Umar on the recommendation of her relative Shoaib, who worked as an electrician at Al-Falah University.

According to the family, on October 28, Shoaib called Afsana and told her that a guest would stay for a few days, so she should prepare a room at home. No one arrived for the next two or three days. On October 31, Shoaib brought Umar in a car and left him there.

The investigation found that Umar stayed inside the room for 10 days. He littered the room and did not change his clothes or take a bath. He stepped out only at night to get food.

“Our guest wouldn't leave his room. He only went out at night. He had two mobile phones. After dark, he would go to roadside shops to eat. For 10 days, he wore the same clothes and didn't speak to anyone. He left in his car without informing anyone around 11 pm on November 9. The next day, Umar blew himself up along with the explosive-laden car in Delhi,” a relative of Afsana said on the condition of anonymity.

Officials said Umar recorded an 80-second video in the room before fleeing the university on October 30. The video went viral on Tuesday and shows he spoke fluent English. However, investigators suspect it might be AI-generated.
