The recent panchayat elections in Uttarakhand saw many young women winning, showing a hopeful change at the village level. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the newly elected leaders and said he is hopeful they will help in building a better India.
One inspiring example is 21-year-old Priyanka Negi from Sarkot village. A graduate, she now represents a model village adopted by the state and is ready to work for her community’s progress.
Other young winners include 22-year-old Sakshi, who is now the village head of Kui, and 24-year-old Raveena, elected as a zila panchayat member from Uttarkashi.
Political experts see this rise of young women as a step forward in strengthening local self-governance and bringing fresh energy to village leadership.
