Justice BR Gavai appointed next Chief Justice of India

Justice BR Gavai has been appointed the 52nd Chief Justice of India by President Droupadi Murmu. He will take oath on 14 May, succeeding Justice Sanjiv Khanna. Gavai will be the second CJI from the Scheduled Caste community after K G Balakrishnan.
