Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held a detailed telephonic conversation with Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the recovery of Himachal Pradesh's pending financial dues and statutory rights from the BBMB. He sought the Centre's support, saying the state had been waiting for its legitimate rights for many years and that the government was committed to securing them.

He also referred to the Supreme court's judgement of 2011 which held, that Himachal Pradesh is entitled to a share of 7.19 per cent in the composite Punjab, on the basis of population ratio transfer under the Punjab Reorganisation Act and this was the basis for the legitimate share in the power also being generated by BBMB.
