Nana Patekar, the renowned Bollywood actor and three-time National Award winner, served with the Indian Army during the 1999 Kargil War. Though initially met with resistance, he obtained special permission to join the forces after reaching out to then Defence Minister George Fernandes. Patekar spent more than two weeks near the Line of Control (LoC), assisting soldiers and volunteering at a base hospital. The experience left him with a deep sense of fulfillment and connection to the armed forces.
