Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk have taken a jab at Microsoft-owned LinkedIn, describing the professional networking platform as "so cringe-worthy it will make your toenails curl." Musk's remarks come as he plans to introduce job search capabilities to his social media platform, X.
With LinkedIn boasting nearly 1 billion members across over 200 countries, Musk's X platform has reached 600 million monthly active users (MAUs).
Responding to an X user, Alex Cohen, who expressed a strong dislike for LinkedIn, Musk echoed the sentiment, stating, "LinkedIn is so cringeworthy it will make your toenails curl." This brief exchange prompted a flurry of responses from Musk's followers on X.
One user commented, “The biggest difference between X and LinkedIn is that people tend to be their real selves on X. On LinkedIn, too many people are posting as if HR is breathing down their necks.”
Musk aims to roll out a job search feature on X, allowing users to find employment opportunities directly through the platform. His AI company began posting job listings via the @XHiring page in the U.S. last year.
Musk has previously expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of social networks, committing to creating "at least one" great network as part of his vision to build an "everything app."
