FIRs have been registered against the Meta India head, Arun Srinivas, and several Facebook and Instagram accounts by Hyderabad Cybercrime Police regarding alleged morphed and objectionable content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi while the CJP protest was going on at Jantar Mantar.
The action follows complaints by BJP supporters alleging that morphed photographs of the Prime Minister were shared on Facebook and Instagram. The FIR names Meta's India chief as a co-accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
A cybercrime investigator confirmed that formal notices have been served to Meta regarding the reported links.
Authorities are currently gathering details to identify and arrest the individuals responsible for creating and spreading the content as the investigation continues.
