The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the revised result for the NEET UG 2024 exam. Medical aspirants who appeared for the test can now access their updated scorecards on the official NEET website, neet.ntaonline.in, using their login credentials.
The NEET UG 2024 exam, conducted on May 5, saw participation from over 24 lakh candidates across 4750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 international locations. Initially, the results were declared on June 4.
Controversy arose when 67 students were awarded the All India Rank (AIR) 1, with 44 of them receiving grace marks due to errors made by invigilators. The situation prompted a series of legal challenges and appeals, culminating in a Supreme Court ruling.
The Supreme Court decision, which led to the release of the revised results on July 25, addressed the erroneous Physics question that had initially been compensated with extra marks.
The court ruled that only the accurate answers should be credited, invalidating the previous compensatory scores. This decision resulted in a reshuffling of the ranks, affecting the 44 students who initially topped the exam.
In the initial results, 67 candidates had shared the AIR 1, of whom 44 had received additional marks. Following the revision, these students' scores were adjusted, which significantly altered their ranks. The medical board is expected to release an updated merit list soon, which will reflect these changes.
For students eagerly awaiting the next steps, the medical board will soon announce the counselling schedule. Candidates will need to register on the official web portal to participate in the counselling process. It is essential for students to regularly check the NEET website for the latest updates.
The Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, confirmed that the NTA would release a new merit list within two days of the Supreme Court's verdict. Students are advised to carefully review their revised results to ensure all details are accurate.
This year’s NEET UG exam saw a substantial turnout, with 13,31,321 female candidates, 9,96,393 male candidates, and 17 transgender candidates participating.
The initial results had generated considerable attention due to the high number of candidates tied for the top rank. However, the revised results have brought about significant changes in the ranking of the candidates.
The NTA’s decision to release revised results after the Supreme Court’s intervention underscores the importance of accuracy and fairness in the evaluation process. As the counselling process approaches, students are encouraged to stay informed and prepared for the next steps in their medical education journey.
The NEET UG 2024 revised results have been released following a Supreme Court ruling that corrected earlier discrepancies. Candidates can now access their updated scores and await the upcoming merit list and counselling schedule. The revised results reflect a commitment to ensuring a fair and accurate assessment for all participants.
