For the BJP Delhi was indeed very important, but unlike the AAP, it was not a matter of life and death. Delhi’s defeat poses existential threat to the AAP, even if it remains in power in Punjab. In fact, with its loss in Delhi, Punjab will be under serious challenge, not from the BJP, but from the Congress. That is the reason everybody loved and liked to watch the Delhi elections so keenly and with a bated breath. After a long time, the Congress and the BJP will be celebrating the Delhi verdict at the same time for different reasons, even though the grand old party drew a complete blank for the third consecutive time. Losing Delhi citadel is a monumental setback for the AAP, which may take a lot of time to overcome.
