IIT Roorkee cautions students against joining political movements

In an email, IIT Roorkee reminded students, employees and other stakeholders that the institute's primary role is to provide education, conduct research and promote learning in fields such as engineering, technology, science and the arts. It said its existing conduct rules require students and employees to seek prior permission before taking part in political discussions or activities. The rules also restrict public statements in the media that could harm the institute's relations with the Central Government, other organisations or members of the public.
