The Jharkhand Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) analysed the affidavits of 80, out of 81 winning candidates, and found that 71 newly elected MLAs in 2024 are ‘crorepatis’, which is 20 per cent higher than the number of such legislators elected in 2019.

The BJP-led NDA suffered a major defeat in Jharkhand's 28 tribal constituencies, winning just one seat despite fielding 21 new candidates. Meanwhile, the JMM-led coalition tapped into strong tribal sentiment, securing victory in the remaining 27 seats.

Devendra Fadnavis won the Nagpur South West seat for the fourth time, defeating Congress' Prafulla Gudhade Patil by 39,710 votes. Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar secured a commanding victory in his family stronghold of Baramati, defeating his nephew, Yugendra Pawar, by over one lakh votes.

JMM's Umakant Rajak won the Chandankiyari seat in Bokaro by 33,733 votes, defeating BJP's Amar Kumar Bauri, with Rajak's victory marking a significant turnaround after switching from AJSU Party to JMM.

Despite heavy campaigning by top BJP leaders, the NDA suffered a major defeat in Jharkhand, with the JMM-led alliance securing a decisive victory, as BJP’s failure to project a tribal CM candidate and focus on national issues over local concerns cost it dearly.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday expressed gratitude to the people of the state for the INDIA bloc’s stellar performance in the assembly polls, saying, “We have passed the exam of democracy in Jharkhand; we will finalise our strategy after the election results.”

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's brother, Basant Soren, won the Dumka assembly seat by 14,588 votes, securing 95,685 votes, while BJP's Sunil Soren came second with 81,097 votes, according to the Election Commission.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP co-incharge for the Jharkhand assembly elections, expressed that the party's loss was deeply painful and congratulated the JMM-led alliance for its "impressive victory" under CM Hemant Soren's leadership.
